Royal Malaysian Navy Latest Patrol Vessels
(11 Mar 2003)
The contract to build six patrol vessels by Penang Shipbuilding
and Construction - Naval Dockyard was signed in September 1998.
The design of the patrol vessels is originally from the Blohm
and Voss Yard in Hamburg.
Besides constructing the patrol vessels locally, the training
and expertise provided by this renowned shipbuilding company also
enable the Malaysians to have the expertise to develop their own
combat information systems.
With the technology transfer from Germany, the Malaysians are
now capable of developing the software for the combat information
system to integrate and handle all sorts of weapons.
The first patrol vessel is expected to be delivered in September
2004.
