The event saw strong participation and support from
government organisations, military and technology developers
from the region and around the world with the presence of 31
sponsors and delegations spanning 11 countries.

The
3-day event brought together three conferences, namely, Air
Defence Technology Asia 2005 (ADTA 2005), Submarine & ASW
Asia 2005 (SASW 2005) and Naval Surface Ships Asia 2005 (NAVSA
2005).

Our Guest-of-Honour, Mr Richard Lim, Chief
Executive of Defence & Science Technology Agency officially
launched the event with a welcome address. The opening keynote
addresses were delivered by, General Patrick Auroy (Director,
Force Systems and Perspectives, Délègation Générale pour l’Armement,
France) and RADM W G Timme (Deputy Commander, Undersea
Warfare, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, United States Navy).
SASW 2005 and NAVSA 2005 were opened by our Guest-of-Honour,
RADM Sim Gim Guan, Chief of Staff, Republic
of Singapore Navy.

In
addition, the event had the pleasure of having keynote addresses
delivered by key military leaders, ADM Dato' Ilyas bin Hj
Din (Deputy Chief of Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy), Lt
Gen Dato' Hj Shahron bin Hj Ibrahim (Commander Air Operation,
Royal Malaysian Air Force), BG Jimmy Tan (Commander,
Air Defence Systems Division, Republic of Singapore Air Force),
COL Chew Men Leong (Fleet Commander,
Republic of Singapore Navy), RADM Lars Salomonsson (Director, Naval Systems, Swedish Defence
Materiel Administration) and Sheila M. McNeill (National
President of the Navy League, USA).

Defence Technology Asia 2005 also comprised of an
Exhibition. The exhibition provided exhibitors and visitors
the opportunity for networking and discussion on the latest
technology and end-user requirements. Our Guest-of-Honour,
Mr. Richard Lim, who opened the exhibition, visited
all the booths during the opening ceremony.

| More than just 3 full days of conference
and exhibition, the event offered numerous networking opportunities
in informal settings as well. The Pre-Event Cocktail held
at Equinox provided a chance for the Guests-of-Honour, Keynote
Speakers and Foreign Delegation to mingle and share ideas and
information. While the VIP Cocktail held at the poolside
of Concorde Hotel allowed most participants that equal opportunity
to do the same. |
| Delegates
and visitors provided feedback that the event met their main objectives
of finding out about technology developments, meeting potential
suppliers and meeting technology developers, giving them more
networking opportunities than expected. They were impressed by
the quality of the papers provided which gave them a deeper insight
to the latest technology developments. |
